Global Positioning System (GPS) is helping people in finding places; tracking down path; measuring distances between places; in different fields like Military, Airline, Transportation, etc…. The GPS receivers can pinpoint the location accurately than any other device. Today more and more applications are being designed using the GPS system like for e.g. Vehicle Tracking system.

The GPS Reader is one such application, being developed to receive GPS Data (Latitude, Longitude, Speed and Time) from the reader and save the details in log files (CSV formatted). The application is able to calculate the Distance Factor and Mileage from it using Correlation Factor. The application also records the number of idle timings.

The application also generates report based on the data stored in the log files. The GPS Data received from the device is in NEMA format specification.
